The life and times of...

  • Apr. 2nd, 2009 at 9:06 PM

Been a while since I've LJed things up!
I've fallen behind on Soul Eater, so I think I will try to catch up today. Also, is it me, or has Twitter become the new favorite thing to talk about in the media? I've heard the word "twitter" more times on TV in the last few days, then I have ever heard on the internet.

A good episode of Pokemon is coming up this weekend. More Ash and Paul rivalry, and an evolution to boot! Season 11 is ending in a few weeks, so I guess we will have some reruns. Giratina and the Sky Warrior is a great movie, I can hardly wait to see what they do with Arceus in movie 12.

One thing that surprised me was the lack of April Fools antics this year. I had expected at least a few pranks, but I guess this was just an off year.

That's it for now, TTFN.

Rest in peace, Maddie.

I am dumbstruck, I do not have the mental strength to comprise a new post, so I will X-post.

A sad day for us all
As this news is now confirmed by many sources, I will post it.
During the previous week, Maddie Blaustein passed away in her sleep. The cause of death is unknown at this time, though it seems Maddie had a bad stomach virus, and there should be a release sometime within the next few days.
This is a very sad day for the fandom, as we have lost one of our own. A friend, an actor, a person. It's times like these that remind us that we are all living human beings, and fans of this wonderful franchise which is about the celebration and appreciation of every living thing. The things that divide us, are nowhere near as vast as the things that unite us.

Madeleine Joan Blaustein ~ 1960-2008

It was truly an honor having you with us, and you will never leave our hearts.

Hectic Holiday Preparations!

  • Dec. 10th, 2008 at 3:00 PM
Stare, Kidd
December has been a total whirlwind up to this point; cooking, cleaning, shopping, decorating, dealing with family and friends. It has been rather crazy, and the month isn't even half-way over. I notice that for some reason I have become the designated wrapper of presents this year. I have wrapped gifts for everyone I know. But, being as it is the season of giving of oneself, I have no complaints to speak.

I have been feeling slightly blue, not a major depression, but just a little blue. This is much better than the kind of blues I am prone to getting this time of year. At the very least I do not have to worry about being a joy-kill to those around me. As long as it remains the kind of thing I can just keep to myself.

So on to happier things. I'd like to wish everyone Happy Holidays. May all your wishes be fulfilled, and may your celebrations be joyous and plentiful.

I have that song stuck in my mind. I suppose it is fitting, considering I have been doing alot of "facing forward" myself as of late.

I am a few episodes behind in Soul Eater, I need to get all caught up. It has been pretty darn cold the last few weeks. I suppose this means it's going to be a long cold winter for most of the US.

Last night's season Finale for South Park, was very funny. The "Goth kids" got an episode that focused on them, since the episode was making fun of the whole "Twilight" mess, and how it is spawning masses of "Vampire Kiddies". Of course, they did this without even once mentioning the movie itself. Instead, they cited a place, that many goths hate without mercy. Hot Topic. I have to admit, it did get a laugh out of me when they burned the store down. But personally, I have no issues with Hot Topic, they carry many niche items, and little gems that other stores just don't carry. Where else can a Pokemon fan over 14 actually find Pokemon shirts that fits them? (outside of Nintendo World, and the internet) So, I don't let myself be blinded to the benefits of Hot Topic, and I don't think a goth would be any less of a goth for shopping there. But I digress, It was a really good episode, and I very much enjoyed watching it.

I guess that's enough rambling into the empty ether for today.

How R U gentlemen? All UR Base R Belong 2 US!

It's update time again.

"Pruning a Passel of Pals" aired just a little while ago, and it was great! There will be no new episode next week, ten on Oct 11th, the Wallace Cup comes to an end. It's been a great contest, the Sinnoh Grand Festival will have to work hard to top this.

Last week brought a very sad event for anime fans. After 11 years, Toonami died on September 20th.
I am still recovering from the loss. Naruto will still air, but as for all the other shows that used to be Toonami staples, they are now without a home. There are some early rumors that CN may have a Toonami replacement (not counting the new Friday block) but, the chances of that are pretty slim. Rest in peace, Toonami. You were a dear friend to all anime fans, and you will always hold a place of honour.

Now the fall game release season is beginning, I am going to have to keep an eye out as the titles I am interested in get released. Nintendo is supposed to have a conference on Oct 2nd. Some people believe that some new games will be announced there, others think that a new DS redesign will be revealed. I am thinking that a new game title has far better chances than another DS redesign. I am prepared no matter what the outcome is.

Something else that happens on the 2nd is... Pokemon FINALLY gets a new opening in Japan. A new ending also, but we have been with "Together" for almost 100 episodes! So this will be a welcome change.

I signed up for LJ's beta testing of a new profile page layout, so we'll see how that turns out.

Stein for the win!

Crank
Things have been rather calm as of late, so that is good. Last week, and this week have been all about the Platinum release. The game is as outstanding as everyone had expected, and more. Now the countdown to the US release begins.

The Wallace cup arc is in full-swing, the episodes that have aired so far have been really great, and I'm very much looking forward to this weekend's episode where the competition actually begins. Everyone really has some great appeals.

The latest episodes of Soul Eater prove exactly why I love the show so much, and I really want to see it dubbed and air on TV, (though, unless it aired on Adult Swim or Sci-Fi, it would probably have to be edited) I must own those DVDs when they come out. Stein is just so full of win that there ought to be a law against it! If I didn't love every character on the show so much, I could easily name Stein as my favorite character, at least among the adult characters.

To wrap things up, a video dump! Here's a video that is very silly, but made me laugh:

The English opening for Yu-Gi-Oh 5d (actually a pretty decent song)

Bach's Toccata and Fugue, with a cool video showing the patterns of the melody. (I recommend most of the videos made by that person)

Holiday?

  • Sep. 3rd, 2008 at 10:20 AM

I don't even feel like this past weekend was a holiday. The weekend was shot from Saturday on. Only now are things calming down a bit. I still managed to enjoy the holiday, even with Hurricanes, and politics on the forefront of news.

At least with things slowing down again, there is room to relax a bit. I'm having a nice lunch of grilled cheese, and soup. Just a few more weeks before Heroes new season starts! And mere days before Platinum comes out in Japan.

Come to think of it, I need to check out the latest episode of Soul Eater. Things were really getting crazy last episode... and I mean Joker crazy. So that should be fun to watch, as long as nobody dies.

This is all I can think of at the moment, so I will fill the void with a not-so-random random song.

Dance Macabre

  • Aug. 29th, 2008 at 9:12 AM

It has to be one of my favorite classical pieces, which is saying a lot, because I am a big classical geek. (It is almost a personal anthem) And it really fits with the theme of Soul Eater. So that makes me like it even more.

Serebii forums have been a awfully slow this week. I've seen more server errors than forums this week. I Guess this means Serebii is doing work or something.

I have been following the DNC coverage on and off all week, next up is the GOP Con. Am I the only one that finds is so ironic that Anime/Games/Manga and Political parties have conventions? Dem Con '08, and GOP-Con '08. Watching the coverage of what happens on the floor, it is very eerie the similarities between fun-cons and politicons. There is merchandising and swag, there are after parties, and I am pretty sure there may even be cosplay (low-level stuff).

I'm looking forward to another great episode of Pokemon tomorrow, and then there's the marathon on Monday. A great way to get all caught up on the season, and a chance to see the Mystery Dungeon special on TV, as well as see The Rise of Darkrai again. Since it is a holiday weekend, it should be relaxing.

I just learned that McCain's Veep pick is a woman. That just made this election a hirtorical landmark no matter which way it goes. First black President if Obama Biden wins, and first female Vice President if McCain Palin wins. The race just got a lot more intense.

I'm weird.

  • Aug. 24th, 2008 at 1:17 PM

At least according to this LJ test.

So, rocket_grunt, your LiveJournal reveals...

You are... 15% unique (blame, for example, your interest in sarah natochenny) and 15% herdlike (partly because you, like everyone else, enjoy harry potter). When it comes to friends you are lonely. In terms of the way you relate to people, you believe in give and take. Your writing style (based on a recent public entry) is conventional.

Your overall weirdness is: 42

(The average level of weirdness is: 28.
You are weirder than 83% of other LJers.)

Find out what your weirdness level is!

Tired Tired Tired

  • Aug. 21st, 2008 at 11:19 AM

What a busy week it has been! And there is still two days left! I will enjoy the weekend and start of the new week, well, as best as possible considering the political fallout from the DNC and Obama's and McCain's Veep choices being revealed.

I am looking forward to being able to relax a little over the weekend. I have some Disney nostalgia ever since seeing the "Goofy Movie" on tv a few days back, I am thinking about doing a nice Disney movie marathon. But, I'd have to make sure my schedule is clear, which is nearly impossible, unless I decide to, like, lock myself away and not take calls, or check the computer, or even answer the door. So maybe I can squeeze in one or two movies, I'll think about which ones.

Speaking of Disney, Toon Disney channel is changing into "Disney XD" this coming spring.

http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-disney7-2008aug07,0,6413232.story

They want to appeal to that young 6 to 14 male demographic. I actually don't see Toon Disney changing that much, since it has already been the warehouse for all of the Disney Channel's old cartoons and stuff. What I wish is that "The Disney Channel" would take on some of the classic Disney cartoons, and stop with this "Nickelodeon lite" garbage they have been pulling for the last 5 years. But, the shocker is, that junk actually gets better ratings than animated shows targeted towards that same age group. That is why CN is getting all screwed up lately, it seems the only die-hard animation fans left are those that grew up with it. The younger tv viewers are being fed the drivel of those Nick-style kidcoms, and they have less and less appreciation for animated programing. Oh well. Maybe this is a cycle, and in 10 years animation will be king again.

I'll wrap up this entry now, I have babbled on enough for one entry.

Morning.

Death
Corn Pops is the breakfast of champions.

I have been sleeping much better lately, so I am not feeling tired at all today.
It's gotten cooler for today and possibly tomorrow, so the current temps are very enjoyable. I took a nice walk this morning, and may take another later today.

Soul Eater has reached a really interesting part in the story, now the wait for episodes will be painful.

"Enter Galactic" was a nice episode, seeing the smarmy Saturn in action has made me a little bit more of a Galactic fan, of course, I never liked Aqua or Magma beyond them having cool uniforms and so-so leadership. If Mars, Jupiter, and Cyrus shape up to be anywhere near as cool as the Rockets are, Team Galactic may just earn the number two spot on my list of favorite evil teams in Pokemon.

Speaking of rockets... I still can't find that song! D=

I came across this rockin AMV devoted to the TRio. I wish I could identify the song.

Ready for the weekend

Crank
Boy has this week been busy, not really long, just busy as hell.

I haven't been doing much sleeping either, I hope to rectify this problem over the weekend, and pop back into my more regular sleeping patterns next week. I think it is starting to get to me because I have been having headaches, and I normally never have headaches.

Now it is August, and summer is beginning to wind down. I have a feeling autumn will be busy also. I don't think anything big is planned, but you never know. I function pretty well in the autumn season, so I'm not really worried.

I need to find episode 17 of Soul Eater, so I can watch that. I really am enjoying that show. I think I will make a few LJ icons from the manga and anime images I have collected. =D I've gotten started already.

Snowgasborg

  • Jul. 26th, 2008 at 11:58 AM

(To any wondering about the title of this entry, I am currently watching "Snow Way Out" =D )

Saturday has been very calm so far, I venture to say that this might be an okay day.

I watched "Crossing the Battle Line" and it was a very good episode. Team Rocket had to sit on the sidelines, but they had a few funny quips, and they didn't get blasted off. Two more weeks and the Veilstone arc comes to an end. I hope Reggie shows up again in a future episode, he's a good character.

I've just been vegging out today, which is something I haven't done in quite a while.  I might even play with some games in a while.
Wow. I have a craving for Mexican food. I should look into that.

Professor Fanboy

  • Jul. 15th, 2008 at 4:00 AM

I guess the old saying is true that every devil gets their due. I admit that that one moment PUSA pulled out a funny joke.
Maybe because as a Team Rocket fan, I can see how Namba is alot like an angry fanboy.

Life has been kinda dull recently. So there is not much to report. I sometimes wonder if I have any friends at all, or just people that like to use me because I am a useful tool, and don't even get me started on relationships. It's like I give off a vibe to the opposite sex that says I am free to use and dispose of. I'm so scared of getting my heart broken again that I just avoid any kind of romantic stuff with people. I am reduced to hiding any feelings I may have like a grade schooler.

There are no shoulders to cry on... because if I'm doing that, then I'm now working and being productive to my friends, which means they will abandon the broken tool... Is that what friendship is supposed to be? Only hang with people you know you can use? and if they seem hurt and troubled, just abandon them?

This must just be my fate... to be a total misfit, to have to work like a dog just to not be abandoned... because I don't want to be alone... I'd rather swallow my pain and bear through it than be abandoned and left alone with my pain.

Poke-Marathon

  • Jun. 7th, 2007 at 9:20 AM

I watched as much of the 33 hour Pokemon marathon as possible. The only episodes I skipped were the BF episodes because we want the ratings to drop sharply on the BF episodes compared to the other 8 seasons.
